Example of an IO-Link application

The unique feature of IO-Link is that users receive significantly more process data from their process or system. This is due to the microcontrollers built into IO-Link sensors, which can capture and process more data than conventional, parallel-wired sensors. As a result, process anomalies can be detected that were previously unrecognizable. For example, maintenance planning can be adjusted so that the optimal time for replacing a component is identified and maintenance times can be minimized. High data accuracy is achieved through one-time conversion of analog sensor signals, eliminating inaccuracies that can result from multiple A/D conversions.
