From remote maintenance to the Internet of Things

The mbNET industrial routers by MB connect line can be upgraded with mbEDGE to an IoT gateway. This provides users with a multifunctional solution for implementing safe IoT applications.
Edge computing: Transfer only the result to the cloud instead of a large amount of raw data
Thanks to the security chip, the user data is optimally protected against espionage and manipulation
The new solution covers the entire workflow – from data collection through preprocessing (edge computing) and cloud connection to remote maintenance.

Security by Design

Hardware-based storage of certificates and encryption ensures the highest level of security. Both the data communication and the IoT gateway itself, are much less vulnerable. A security chip (Secure Element) serves as a secure safe for passwords, certificates and keys.

EDGE computing

The preprocessing of data takes directly place at the plant. Instead of a large amount of raw data, only the result is transferred to the cloud. A decentralized network structure saves bandwidth and offers more real-time capability, since latency times are eliminated during transmission via Internet.
mbEDGE is based on established IT standards such as the Docker technology, the graphical development environment Node-RED and the lean message protocol MQTT. The system supports the popular cloud platforms such as Azure, IBM and Amazon. Access to plant data is executed via standard industrial protocols such as OPC-UA, Modbus-TCP and S7-ISOTCP. If the IoT gateway detects any deviation from the target state, the service team can be alerted to check the system via remote maintenance and make corrections if necessary.

Remote Maintenance

If the IoT gateway detects any deviation from the target state, the service team can be alerted to check the system via remote maintenance and make corrections if necessary. ds
