Kontron’s KBox R-101, a control and communication platform in box PC format, is
perfectly suited for demanding tasks in railroad and other harsh environments.
Kontron's new compact high-end industrial PC is based on a maintenance-free, fanless,
passively cooled and IP54-compliant system concept. The system and all external interfaces
are specially designed for use within railroads or other public transportation and harsh
industrial environments and are therefore EN 50155 compliant.
The system is based on 11th Gen Intel® Core™
i7-1185GRE or i5-1145GRE processors (KBox R-101-TGL) or Intel Atom®
processors x6425RE or x6212RE (KBox R-101-EKL) together with a memory expansion of max. 32 GB.
With the KBox R-101, a wireless module for WiFi and Bluetooth can be operated together with a module for 5G/LTE, GSM, LPWA and GNSS, thus creating the basis for intelligent applications for both passengers and operators, e.g. Internet-On-Board, entertainment, passenger counting, predictive maintenance or real-time train positioning via GNSS.
