Medical grade DC/DC packs 60 W in miniature package
RECOM has added a 60 W board-mount DC/DC with high power density and medical-grade isolation to their portfolio.
The REM60-W targets medical and demanding industrial applications.
The cost-effective REM60-W is available with two input ranges, 9-36 VDC, and 18-75 VDC, each with a selection of
tightly regulated single and dual outputs: 5 V, 5.1 V, 12 V, 15 V, 24 V ±12 V, and ±15 V. The case size of
the DC/DC is just 2.3-inch x 1.5-inch x 0.5-inch (57.9 x 36.8 x 12.7 mm) achieving industry-leading power density
for a 60 W part. Thanks to their excellent efficiency, peaking at over 90 percent, the DC/DCs operate to 105 °C
ambient with derating, or as an example, to 83 °C at full 60 W output power with 2 m/s airflow (REM60-4824SW
variant).
The REM60-W series has reinforced/2 MOPP isolation, rated 5 kVAC/1 min for 250 VAC working voltage, with creepage and clearance distance from input to output of more than 8 mm. Patient leakage current is 4.5 µA maximum to suit medical B, BF, and CF applications. Medical safety certifications include IEC/EN 60601-1 3rd edition as well as ANSI/AAMI ES60601-1 and CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 60601-1:14 for the North American markets. The parts are also compliant with EN 60601-1-2 for EMI immunity for medical equipment. IEC/UL/EN 62368-1 certifications are also held for the IT/multimedia markets and EMC standards EN 55032 Class A and B can be met with a simple external filter. Reliability is also high at over 1 Mhrs MTBF according to MIL-HDBK-217F, 25 °C, Ground Benign conditions.
The REM60-W series includes an On/Off control, remote sense, and output voltage trimming with full protection against over-temperature, output overloads, short circuits, and input under-voltage. Operation to zero load is possible, light load efficiency is high, and quiescent and standby current is low. Pin-out is industry standard.
