From Industrial Data to Operational Value

ATLAS IoT LAB: Connected devices are becoming part of operational value creation

IIoT & Edge
Today, industrial companies have access to enormous data potential. But true economic value is only created when data leads to business decisions. ATLAS IoT LAB developed its EoT platform (EoT = Economy of Things) to address this challenge. It provides the technological foundation for turning data complexity into concrete operational and economic action.
“Machines, plants, energy systems, building management systems, production planning, and enterprise systems continuously generate information. Key to leveraging this potential is connecting this data across system boundaries, putting it into context, and deriving concrete decisions from it,” says Robert Koning, CEO of ATLAS IoT LAB GmbH. “With our EoT platform, we connect data, context, and processes in a way that generates operational benefits and adds economic value.”
This is the essence of the Economy of Things, or EoT for short: connected devices become part of the operational value chain by enabling insights, recommendations, and concrete actions to be derived from data.

Context is key

Many digitalization projects fail not due to a lack of data, but due to a lack of context, because economic potential only arises when different data sources are linked. For example, operational data from machines and load profiles from energy systems, combined with electricity price signals and environmental values, paint a picture that enables informed decisions.
On this basis, it is possible, for instance, to reduce energy costs in a targeted manner, detect anomalies early on, or prioritize maintenance processes.
Another barrier to consistent data utilization is the high degree of heterogeneity in operational technology (OT). Many manufacturing companies operate with heterogeneous machine fleets built up over many years, where modern equipment coexists with older legacy machines. As a result, not all relevant information is available in digital formats.

Integration Without Disrupting Existing Systems

The EoT platform addresses both challenges. It collects data from various sources, harmonizes it, and places it in the appropriate operational context.
