High efficiency AC fans
AC fans based on Electronically Commutated motors – also called EC fans – differentiate from previous AC fans
with its optimal level of price and performance. These fans are more economical to operate than previous AC fans
thanks to their lower power dissipation. They also have a high motor efficiency in the partial load range.
Instead of shaded motors, they are based on BLDC motors, with integrated commutation electronics generating the
rotating field of the motor. The connection is made directly to the AC mains. The optimized design of the motor
and electronics ensures a low drive noise.
Nidec Servo's FP series of axial fans are based on EC motors and have been specially developed for commercial
air conditioning and refrigeration systems with high requirements in terms of efficiency, reliability and noise
emission. The fans are preferably suitable for use in refrigerated display cases, refrigerated shelves or chest
freezers, which are used, for example, in supermarkets. Other successful high duty applications include
self-service refrigerated counters, cold stores and small cold stores, beverage refrigerators, vending machines,
ice machines and wet rooms such as bathrooms and kitchens. The ball-bearing fans have a universal voltage range
between 115 and 230 V/AC and an efficiency of up to 70 percent compared to conventional fans. They are
water-protected according to IP67. The air flow rate is up to 350 CFM. The speed is adjustable from 800 to 2100
revolutions. The fans can be used at ambient temperatures between -40 °C and 55 °C. They have several approvals
such as UL and according to ATEX directives 94/9/EC EN60079-31.
