With command cycles of only 0.5 ms, the GM1's fast responsiveness is state-of-the-art and makes the motion controller a perfect solution for demanding applications.
Compared to programmable logic controllers, the GM1 is specifically suited for motion applications such as rotary knife, labelling, flow control, palletiser, crank, cam motion, or print mark control.
In addition, the GM1 is equipped with AFBs (Application Function Blocks) that allow quick and easy setup of predefined functions, reducing programming time and associated costs.
The GM Programmer programming tool is based on the IEC 61131-3 automation software Codesys and enables programming with PLCOpen standard functions and a G-code editor.
The GM1 also has an integrated axis configuration tool that allows fast and precise programming of up to 32 axes via PANATERM Lite for GM. For integration into an Industry 4.0 environment, the GM1 Motion Controller is equipped with OPC-UA client and server functions.

Applications

The GM1 combines motion and drive controls in one space-saving unit. It is specifically designed for motion control solutions where high precision is required, such as interpolation control and sensitive response requirements. These features achieve high speeds and high accuracy for applications such as press-fit, moulding, printing, or packaging machines. As usual from Panasonic Industry, the GM1 is fully compatible with the extensive automation portfolio such as controllers, motors, or the MINAS A6 and MINAS A6 Multi family.

FP-I4C – The IoT Gateway

The Internet of Things (IoT) also requires remote access devices, similar to M2M (machine-to-machine) communication. However, IoT also includes to collect and process data from sensors and actuators locally and later sent them via a gateway to a control centre or the cloud. Here, Panasonic Industry has a versatile product in the form of the FP-I4C, which provides various solutions for these requirements.
