DMB Technics has not only realised the FPGA design, but also the backlighting in-house. The 4-layer PCB already contains the necessary power supply for the LEDs as well as the LED drivers for controlling the LEDs. This allows the individual LEDs or the individual zones to be dimmed with a resolution of up to 16 bits. The result is 65 535 brightness levels. The current solution comprises 288 zones at a maximum refresh rate of up to 60 Hz.

Prospects for success

The project is currently still in the development phase. However, promising results have already been achieved, which show the potential of this technology very well. In addition, many new insights were gained during the development. ▪ ds
