eBZ supplies modern metering equipment

These will be supplied by eBZ in future. The company was founded in 2014 and has since developed its core product, the eBZ basic meter DD3, from a prototype to a production-ready product with MID approval.
The eBZ basic meter is designed as a classic three-point meter to replace conventional Ferraris meters and is considered a modern measuring device (mME) within the meaning of the new Metering Point Operation Act. By connecting a communication adapter, it can transmit the data to the smart meter gateway and thus be expanded into an intelligent metering system (iMsys).

Robust and durable: Terminal blocks from WECO

eBZ opted for a customised version of the 145-A and 150-B lift terminals from WECO as part of the delivery in order to ensure the best possible transmission of data streams in addition to durability and robustness.
During the manufacture of the overall product, particular attention was paid to the voltage capability due to the moulding of the circuit board.
The WECO products were specially designed for this application and also allow the potting compound to flow under the lift terminals. The lift terminals have a solid bracket that clamps the conductor by turning up the socket without damaging it, hence the "lift principle". This allows flexible stranded conductors without ferrules to be clamped directly without the screw damaging the individual wires during the clamping process.

Series 145-A and 150-B in special design

The standard 145-A-111 terminal block has a raised design, extended ribs in the wire entry area, circumferential ribs and no dovetail connection (cannot be latched).
Due to the extended wire entry area and the circumferential ribs, larger clearances and creepage distances and therefore a higher rated impulse voltage of 6 KV are achieved.
The 150-B-111 terminal block, on the other hand, has potting openings on the base that allow potting compound to flow under the component.

UL certificate in progress

“The finished end product from eBZ has currently been submitted to Underwriters Laboratories (UL) for testing. The certificate is proof that the applicable standards and requirements relating to potential fire hazards, electric shock and mechanical hazards have been met. The certificate will be available in the course of 2024 so that the electricity meters can be delivered to customers," says Detlef Fritsch, Managing Director of WECO Contact GmbH.
