Due to its high degree of protection (IP67) and compact design, the reader is ideal for use in harsh
environments, in situations where the dimensions of the existing devices are too large or where installation
with compact, external antennas is too extensive. The reader has been designed without digital inputs and
outputs or an external antenna connection as a cost-efficient version. For applications such as conveyor
technology or mechanical and plant engineering, where compact dimensions and reading ranges of up to one
meter are required, it provides a more cost-effective solution that still offers excellent reading
performance.
Link between the digital
The easy connection to cloud applications creates new opportunities to use the data acquired from the RFID
tags.
As a link between the physical and the digital worlds, the Simatic RF600 reader series ensure that operating
resources which could not digitally be mapped in the past, such as containers, pallets, and products, can
now be
registered and tracked.

A second compact reader
Following the successful introduction of Simatic RF615R, Siemens has launched Simatic RF610R, the second new compact reader with dimensions of just 133 x 133 x 45 millimeters. Like Simatic RF615R, this new reader also has an internal circularly polarized antenna, which means that the installation position of the reader can be adapted individually to the situation at the installation location. The tags can then be recorded by the reader reliably at all times, almost regardless of their alignment.Siemens is expanding its UHF (ultra-high
frequency) device
family with the new,

Web-based management
Proven access to configuration, commissioning and diagnostic tools via web-based management in combination with an easily visible LED (Light Emitting Diodes) status display that encircles the device and is clearly visible from all sides make light work of commissioning, troubleshooting and service. In-process diagnosis and the diagnostic history in the logbook also improve plant availability. Proven “UHF for Industry” algorithms ensure maximum reliability during the read-write process, even in difficult environments.Easy connection to cloud applications
Like all readers within the Simatic RF600 family, Simatic RF610R supports OPC UA as its interface to the IoT (Internet of Things) world. Communication via the OPC UA Auto ID Companion Specification V1.0 data model also enables manufacturer independent communication in automation. This means that a standardized connection to cloud applications such as the open cloud-based IoT operating system MindSphere can be implemented easily and reliably using an industrial IoT gateway such as the Ruggedcom RX1400 with CloudConnect or the Simatic S7-1500 controller with CP 1545-1.Link between the digital
