Yamaichi: Circular connectors with IP68 protection
Waterproof push-pull connectors are suitable for harsh environments in mechanical engineering
as well as for use in medical technology. Yamaichi Electronics has introduced a compact concept
designed for up to 5,000 mating cycles. Easy assembly and increased reliability characterise this
T series, which enables data rates of up to 10 Gbit/s under harsh conditions.
Connector technology
Today, connection technology is undergoing fundamental changes. With the trend towards
miniaturisation, connectors are also becoming smaller and smaller. Nevertheless, they must
remain robust and withstand more and more mating cycles. This applies to the components in
electronic systems in industrial electronics as well as to devices in communication, medical or
traffic technology.
Connectors must transmit energy, signals and data. High data rates in the range of several gigabits per second require sophisticated RF concepts, for which the user needs powerful, application-specific and compact connection solutions. For device manufacturers and users, other properties such as reliability, availability and cost-effectiveness as well as smooth assembly are also important.
Connectors are often complex components that have to meet very different requirements depending on the area of application.
Manufacturers are responding to new markets and applications such as Industry 4.0 with the
accelerated expansion of multi-variant product families. Yamaichi Electronics, for example,
combines different technologies and is successively developing new variants based on its
Y-Circ P push-pull connector series.
The company has launched an extensive range of push-pull connectors. Manufactured in Germany,
the circular connectors (read more in the knowledge box) with push-pull locking mechanism
offer cost advantages by saving material and space.
Miniaturisation saves effort and costs
The Y-Circ P series – the name stands for Circular Connector Push-Pull – is mate-compatible with existing
series on the market. Depending on the type, however, the connectors are lighter and up to
20% shorter than comparable models. This means that shorter receptacles can be used, which
means more space is available for the customer's application. In addition, the reduced
dimensions make the connector less susceptible to vibrations.
The push-pull locking mechanism allows easy mating as well as unmating by pulling on the connector
housing.
